Fishing on the river just now (end of April) is slow due to the low water temperature & also the low water conditions which is unusual for this time of year in Scotland.
We have had our 1st Springer which was captured earlier this month on the ‘flying ‘c’.
More fish are probably there but there are not enough anglers out just now to get a true picture o the amount of Salmon that is in the river.
We have eyes on the river most days so hopefully it wont be soon before a lot more fish are being reported.
On another note, please keep your eye on your cars at Blantyre & Bothwell, we have had reports of car tyres being ‘slashed’, these reports are coming from members of the public out for a walk !
The police have been informed by the public and are going to monitor the area, be careful.
If you want to report any fish, please email R.C.F here.

Rapala Bill UCAPA report -
I have been struggling the past few outings,i have put it down to lack of fly knowledge
and the low clear water.
Golfing yesterday so had a couple of hours this afternoon.
I had spotted a nice new run the other day so headed for this run
it was pouring down got on the river about 2.30pm,the river was just a bit cloudy,
I was carefully wading as it was new water (i always think the harder to get to the
better the fishing).
I have been guilty of leaving the zip down on my waders after
lunch on a few trips and today I felt the nice cold water again but this time it
was over the top of my waders i had been so busy covering rises i forgot how deep
it was.
It was worth it though i had at least a dozen fish all good size and lovely colours
due to the depth of water photos were hard only banked one fish and had a few blurred
attempts with other fish.
I only thought the upper reaches had these yellow bellied
fish but the area i have been fishing seem to be full of them,no small fish either.
